Oro Valley Marketplace: Who's Out, Who's In

Vestar continues with their same old sales pitch. On their web site, it says:

"Known for its conscientious approach to developing environmentally sensitive and culturally significant properties, Vestar
has established new benchmarks for working with neighborhood groups, communities and municipalities to address community needs and foster goodwill on all levels."

Yeah, sure! They really fostered a whole lot of goodwill by promising a "unique, upscale" shopping mall, and "stuck us" with that ugly Wal-Mart, including a roof that to date does not meet the criteria design it is obligated to meet.

Oh yeah. Vestar still indicates "these stores are expected to generate approximately $65 million in revenue over the first 20 years, and will play a pivotal role in properly funding police, parks, transportation and other community needs in Oro Valley."

Well, as of their latest web site, say goodbye to Michaels, Staples, Old Navy & BevMo. But, don't worry, they'll be replaced by a dental place, a haircut place and a game place.

These new entities should bring in tons of sales tax revenue to make up for those that opted out!

But Thinker, Art is only stating the facts and we all know how much you love facts!

What the heck is a culturally significant property?

Honestly who writes this stuff.
Do they believe their own bs?

Hey Thinker,
What do you think of that bs coming out of Vestar?
Really pathetic.

Victorian Cowgirl said...

Yeah, Thinker. You always get riled when anyone says anything that you consider misleading, but when Vestar does it, you're silent.

I remember one of their ads that said...opponents of the mall must want an Anywhere USA mall because that's what you'll get if Vestar isn't the developer.

And what did we get from Vestar? An Anywhere USA mall.

victorian cowgirl;

I think there are some really good Anywhere Mall USA's out there.

I'm not sure that this "mall" fits even that criteria. This "mall" is the bottom of the heap.

ov objective thinker;
seems to think that mega sales tax will be made from hair cuts, gasoline, dental fillings and hamburgers.

What is the update on the upscale
retail broker, Corritore that Vestar hired to bring in the nicer shops?

Also readers I now notice that Vestar
has finally corrected its web site address for the OVM.
Until recently, Vestar had the address for the OVM as Tucson.

Also if you look carefully all the info about the stores put out by the new website and the Vestar web site all list different stores.

I wonder if they will have the same blunders when they start counting the money they suckered out of the voters.

How can anybody trust Vestar?
