Az Star Reports On Oro Valley Potential Impact Fees Escalation

The July 3 Az Star reports what we previously posted: Oro Valley Council will consider raising the impact fees charged for new homes.

If Gov. Napolitano signs the recently passed Senate Bill 1406, it will make it difficult for municipalities to raise these fees after Jan 1,2009. As such, we believe it is prudent that our Town Council be pro-active.

Mr. Ed Taczanowsky, executive director and president of the Southern Arizona Home Builders Association said Oro Valley's efforts to raise fees could force builders to take their projects elsewhere.

We say, "See ya!"

We trust this council will not be intimidated by SAHBA----and good for them!

People with intelligence will appreciate the fact that my point is we need not subsidize home builders.

Those lacking in common sense will take it to mean "no more home building."

Art...When are you going to realize that the impact fees are simply passed on the the home buyer and in no way subsidize the home builder or the developer.

Pleasae do all of us a favor and explain how an impact fee (none, low or high) subsidizes a home builder. I just don't get the connection.
