This afternoon I received a phone call from a young man stating he was taking a survey on the Oro Valley Town Council election.
Question one was; "Are you going to vote?"
I responded; "Yes."
Next question---in the following order he listed the candidates.
1) Helen Dankwerth
2) Terry Parish
3) Barry Gillaspie
4) Bill Garner
5) Salette Latas
Which will you vote for?
Prior to responding, I asked who is sponsoring the poll? Answer: "I don't know."
Who gets the results? Answer:"I don't know."
Interesting---the candidates are NOT listed alphabetically, but the three incumbents are at the top.
I can assure you, the Garner & Latas campaigns had nothing to do with this survey, especially since they can't afford it, as the cost may be in 6 figures depending on how many calls are made.
Curious, huh? Could the big developer(s) be trying to get a handle on voter sentiment to see how much they should spend on "their" candidates? I don't know.
Anyone have any ideas?
By the way----He only wanted to know my first & second choice for candidates. Not 3rd.

Maybe a developer who is interested in Arroyo Grande. This property is going to be a gold mine for some developer. It would not hurt a developer to have a council person or two on their list of "yes" guys.
I personnaly believe this poll was paid for by SAHBA.
Any other guesses?
I would think that most developers belong to SAHABA, so that makes sense to me ovwebsleuth.
Since moving here I have acquired a dislike for developers and also when I see an endorsement by the Chamber or Bd of Realtors, my fur stands up.
If it is good for them, it probably does nothing for most of us. .
guess we don't deserve an answer.
Thank You Northwest Explorer
Terry Parish would not answer , but you did.
Developers are paying for this poll
and I assume the developers are paying for all the glossy flyers we got. That is a lot of money going into electing one candidate who is also an incumbent.
That says a lot to me
Developers like Vestar have deep pockets.
