One of our bloggers "caught" Jim Nintzel's column in the Feb 21 Tucson Weekly.
Below is an excerpt from the column. Mr. Nintzel's says it all, so we need not even comment.

See How They Run
An announcement came from political newcomer Bob Westerman, who rented out downtown's Fox Theatre to declare his plans to take on Democratic state Sen. Jorge Luis Garcia. Westerman, a senior engineer and project manager at Raytheon, seems like a bright enough guy, though his plans to run as a Republican in heavily Democratic District 27 seems a bit quixotic.
Westerman has tapped Mary Davis as a "communications director" for his campaign. Davis is now working as a spokesperson for the Town of Oro Valley. Things could certainly turn awkward if Oro Valley needs to lobby Garcia on any issues this session. Good thing that local governments never have business with the state!

Perhaps I should forward to
Mr. Westerman a background SERIES of communications I exchanged with the Town of Oro Valley along with a final communique that was sent to me by that same Mary Davis, the latter correspondance from her being somewhat flip and ingracious. A request to her, asking for a clarification, went unanswered. If that is the kind of 'communications director' he wants, then so be it.
I Can envision a certain tie here -is it that birds of a feather....?
As to whether or not Mr. Westerman is a Republican and Mr. Garcia is a Democrat, frankly, these days, I can't tell much of a difference between the two parties. Perhaps we should call our ONE entity the BUREAUCRATIC PARTY.
Interesting comment. You make no point other than you don't think Mary Davis is a good communications director. Why do you care if Mr. Westerman feels otherwise, particularly since he is in a legislative district that does not include Oro Valley.
Birds of a feather in what? Have you gone to Mr. Westerman's web site to read his positions?
What is it about a private citizen's support of a candidate that creates this "news?" You get involved in the process by blogging. What is it that bothers you about a citizen vounteering her personal time in a campaign of a candidate that doesn't represent your district?
Why does a "town" the size of Oro Valley need to pay someone $80,000 to be its' Communications Director?
Belt tighting and widespread layoffs are now taking place in the private sector. This seems to be a good time to be proactive and review and determine what positions within OV government should be eliminated. If not key services will be cut and essential employees will be laid off in the very near future.
Turtle,
The reason that Oro Valley needs to pay someone $80,000 per year to be Communications Director is so that they will have someone who can go on TV and defend Vestar from those pesky neighbors who think they have a right to sleep at 3 a.m. and not have to listen to construction noise at the Great Mall of China. Never mind that we have a town code that says that construction can't start until 6 a.m. We have Mary Davis to explain to us that it was all just a misunderstanding.
At $80k, Mary just doesn't have the time to get back to the citizens regarding their concerns. She only has time to go on TV. To actually answer citizen concerns, the Town has hired yet another person, a Constituent Services Coordinator, a job that does not require a college degree, and yet pays upwards of $70k.
PICTURE GUY
I was simply commenting on a post.
As to Mr. Westerman, I don't know his viewpoints and was NOT being critical of anything he may or may not espouse. Whether or not he is in my legislative district is moot
as the OVERALL sum total of action by a legislature does affect me too.
As to Mary Davis, she crafted a response to a query (that I had addressed to another party) which was somewhat offhanded and most certainly not of professional
demeanor; a followup question I posed went ignored. Granted that certain players within the upper echelons of the TOV may have been
'sensative' to the subject in question, as well as my pursuit of it, and that 'sensativity' might have had a hand in said response, there was NO EXCUSE for the tone of her reply. So, this Original Post was simply an opening for me to express what I think of HER. It is Mr. Westerman's perrogative as to whom he wishes to 'employ' in his campaign and I wish him well.
'Birds of a feather'? That was, in fact, a cryptic reference, and only some of the readers here might 'get it'. I shall not elaborate on this except that perhaps I should have excluded it
from my post and I apologize for the 'mystery'.
Again, I found this Original Post an opportunity to express an opinion relative to our so-called two party system as these days I do not see much of a difference.
In fact, I am a registered independant with a conservative bent, so, if Mr. Westerman is a Republican, to me, I do not find that a bad thing.
I WILL NOT INVOLVE MYSELF IN ANY FURTHER 'DEBATE' ON THIS SUBJECT.
OV Mom,
The rules are only for the "little people".
Vestar need not follow the rules.
Vestar never had any intention of following the rules.
Our town council allows them to
run amok.
