It finally appears that all parties----The DeConcini law firm, the OV Town Attorney, Mr Monrad, who initiated it all with his "inquiry," and certainly me, acknowledge our legal right to endorse candidates in accordance with the Az Statutes, without requiring us to form a Political Committee.
That is certainly good news, especially since ballots for the Oro Valley Town Council should start arriving in your mail boxes within the next couple of weeks.
So, as we move forward, we ask all Oro Valley voters to try and familiarize themselves with the three incumbents and two challengers and their positions on the issues. In doing so, we believe you'll come to the same conclusion we have.
ONLY TWO CANDIDATES ARE WORTHY OF YOUR VOTE: BILL GARNER & SALETTE LATAS.
Why? Space does not permit the multitude of reasons. Suffice it to say if you live in Oro Valley and are impacted by one or more of the following, Bill & Salette are your only viable choices.
1) You now have a tax on the necessities of life; gas, water & electric bills.
2) You now are paying Golder Ranch Fire District exorbitant rates as result of the incumbents' actions.
3) You believe it is foolhardy to offer a multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical company $360,000 of our tax money to relocate to larger quarters after being in Oro Valley some 17 years and finding it necessary to expand.
4) Your views of the Catalina mountains are now infringed upon as a result of either a 4 story Splendido or an Ace hardware when you expected a one story office complex.
5) You'll soon have a 60 foot hotel in the Innovation Park area even though the PAD did not permit a hotel nor a structure higher than 36 feet.
6) Your new neighbor on Rancho Vistoso Blvd turns out to be a Crematorium, and when you complained because you had no awareness, the town in essence said, "too late and too bad."
7) You will soon have a 24/7 Wal-Mart Super Center as our "upscale" shopping experience partially because the three incumbents stood idly by when SOVOG sought assistance.
8) You may have a property tax even though the three incumbents want you to believe a Bond Issue in the amount of possibly $154 million is only a "secondary property tax." Once again, they're playing with semantics.
If you need more, let us know.
If you're convinced, remember VOTE FOR BILL GARNER and SALETTE LATAS.
