What will the citizens of Oro Valley get if this Naranja Park Bond Issue passes? Well, if this Council approves this at Wed night's meeting, Dec 19, we'll have a park with a Bond Issue that may be for up to 25 years with an interest rate of up to 12% for an amount of $49,100,000.
Forget all the intfrastructure costs, etc----Let's just look at the sports facilities this Council may see fit to approve.
How about:
FOUR BASEBALL FIELDS (FOUR LIGHTED)
FOUR SOFTBALL FIELDS (FOUR LIGHTED)
TWENTY ONE TENNIS/BASKETBALL COURTS (TWENTY LIGHTED)
FOUR SOCCER FIELDS (FOUR LIGHTED)
FOUR VOLLEYBALL COURTS
FOUR TETHERBALL COURTS
ONE SKATE PARK
ONE BMX PARK
Has anyone done an analysis as to why this community needs four each baseball & softball fields, or 21 tennis/basketball courts? Are four tetherball courts necessary? Does anyone play tetherball?
Might this list be just a little too much for a community the size of Oro Valley, especially with a large senior citizen population? I'm sure the folks in Sun City will flock to these fields and courts, especially the BMX park. (We hope OV will have good liability coverage, especially with the BMX Park.
What do you think?
On Wed night the Council will decide what---if anything goes on the ballot for a Nov 2008 election.

Sanofi-Aventis & Naranja Bond Issue On Council Agenda Dec 19
Although there are a number of important issues scheduled for this Wednesday Oro Valley Town Council meeting, two stand out as very important.
Just added to the agenda is a discussion on the The Executive Session held on Decembe 12th on a possible "giveaway" to Sanofi-Aventis. Quite possibly, the Council will see fit to give this multi billion dollar pharmaceutical giant some
kind of incentive to move from their present Oro Valley quarters to even larger quarters.
We'll see.
The other issue is the proposed $48 million dollar Bond Issue to fund the Naranja Park. Don't be surprised if this gets approved by a split vote. Loomis and Parish are on record of wanting to fund the exorbitant amount (not that $48 million is "chicken feed,") of $150 million. KC Carter, to his credit voted "No" previously and, hopefully Paula Abbott will realize $48 million is way too much. Dankwerth, Gillaspie and Kunisch seem to want this park and this bond approved.
We'll see.
Try and attend. Town Hall--Wednesday, Dec 19 at 7:00 PM.

You Say: "Oro Valley Does Not Need An Economic Development Administrator"
Our question of the week for December 1 and December 8 was:
"Oro Valley is looking for a Economic Development Administrator. The salary range is $74,858-$112,285. Marana is also seeks one fo salary range of $57,124-$62,727. What do you think of the disparity of salary offered by the two communities?, Does Oro Valley really need an Economic Development Administrator or is this expenditure unnecessary?"
You answered: "Oro Valley Does Not Need An Economic Development Administrator". Few respondents even support the need for this postion, let alone the fact that it is a very expensive one.
