Conley Wolfswinkel Faces $171 Million Judgment

Why should we care that Mr. Wolfswinkel was slapped with a $171 million judgment by a Maricopa Superior Court jury last week? Maybe we shouldn't concern ourselves, but wasn't it Wolfswinkel and Vistoso Partners that did those land deals in Oro Valley that cost us plenty?

And, who now owns the land where Vestar is building their Marketplace?

Oh yeah---Conley Wolfswinkel is the developer who was a focal point of the 1980’s Savings and Loan Scandal that cost the taxpayers hundreds of billions and left him a convicted felon and owing 2 billion dollars in restitution.

We can only wonder who in Oro Valley may have benefited (and still might benefit) by supporting these big developers. Could it be anyone on the present Town Council?

A Reader Has A Diverse Opinion

This is not the first----and probably not the last time Mr. Jeff Arest, an Oro Valley resident has taken exception to our of writing.

Rather than respond, as I've done in the past, I thought I'd let those readers who see fit, to offer their comments to Mr. Arest's email.

Personally, I wonder why he continues to read our emails and Blog if it aggravates him as much as it appears.

E Mail From Mr. Jeff Arest

Art, give it up!! You don't have a "new" question!!! You've been asking the same old one for years.Sad as you might see it, Oro Valley wouldn't exist were it not for "big developers." And some of us are not afraid of higher taxes in return for more services and higher property values as a result. The fact that you constantly mention the shortfall in revenue from retail centers in town, should clue you in to the fact that without "outrageous giveaways" we'd all be driving downtown to shop.

Storm Water Fee Approved

In what was probably a necessary action, the Oro Valley Council approved RESOLUTION NO. (R)07- 127 ESTABLISHING THE BASE RATE FOR THE STORM WATER UTILITY FEE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2007/2008.

The new rate that will be $2.90/month.

Proud To Be Cave People

Councilperson Terry Parish believes that anyone who does not agree with him is "against virtually everything". He calls us CAVE people. So, last week we asked the question: "What do you think of "CAVE" people?"

There is not doubt about it. Our bloggers are universally proud to be CAVE people. Their definition of it is a bit different from that of Terry Parish. Our bloggers define a CAVE person as someone who is concerned about Oro Valley's future, not simply its present; someone who is not beholden to special interests; someone who genuinely wants the quality of life in Oro Valley to excel. In other words: Terry Parish-NOT!
