Special Oro Valley Council Meeting Mon. Nov 5 @ 5:00 PM

Yesterday we advised our email subscribers that the OV Town Council will be holding a Special Meeting to discuss, and probably vote on the Naranja Park funding.

MONDAY NOV. 5 at TOWN HALL 5;00-8:00 PM

Mayor Loomis has been "pushing" in his attempt to get the council to approve a bond in the amount of $150 million. So far, only Parish seems to agree. A park is one thing. A park with an amphitheater and aquatic center seems to befit an area like NYC, not a community of approx. 44,000 total residents like Oro Valley.

As we noted in our email, the next day, Nov 6, the voters in the Amphi School District (including OV) will vote on a $276 million bond obligation.

Additionally, we were told that the cost to bring CAP water to OV will run about $172 million.

And let's not forget on Wed Nov 7, the council will probably approve a Storm Water Fee. That will be on top of "Dankwerth's " Utility Tax on our gas water & electric bills imposed as of April 1, 2007.

So---- does anyone think Loomis has his priorities a little screwed up? Maybe he thinks the citizens can afford to subsidize this park. Or, maybe he thinks the park is more important than CAP water or the school expenditure. Or---just maybe, he thinks nobody will notice that they're having this meeting.

It wouldn't be the first time this council will hold a meeting without adequate notice.

We don't expect the council to pay any attention to the citizens---as, other than KC Carter & Paula Abbott, they usually decide their vote PRIOR to hearing any citizen input. We still think it would be wise to attend and "speak your piece." To be safe, leave your wallets home!

Most have given up trying to speak or deal with the majority on this council!!
Why bother as you say they have already made up their minds.
Instead of trying to reason with them I am all for just getting rid of them!
I would be willing to help with a recall.
It may be the only thing that will help OV!

In addition to my one word comment above, have Loomis and his lackeys forgotton so soon the very recent report on the failure of the EDA's to produce, a situation which I am certain they dreamed was going to be a boon instead of a boondoggle and that, as history has a tendency to repeat itself, the Vestar EDA most probably will follow suit? Methinks the Mayor and friends are mathematically
challenged (aside from being arrogant)!

Their arrogance allows them to think that most will not be paying attention or most will just forget to hold them accountable!
We will now be asked to have empathy for them as they slink away from their original boasts and endorsements of the EDA, telling us to vote for it.
Truthfully I wish somebody had the money or nerve to file a legal action against. them.
Second best will be voting them out of office!
