Property Taxes---Why They Increase

The AZ Republic had an article in the Sept 20 issue addressing Property Taxes. The misconception is that property taxes rise as a result of appreciation in home value. Read the excerpts below----and remember it, when the OV Council comes knocking with a Bond Issue to pay for our mayor's $160 million Naranja Park expenditure.

The Maricopa County Treasurer stated the following:

"So many people believe that assessed value makes their tax bills go up, but it doesn't. It's primarily (government and school district) spending,"

"The biggest source of increase is government debt. Voters often don't cast ballots in local elections or know how bond decisions affect their taxes. Bond-election campaigns tout "no tax-rate increase," but if values go up and rates stay the same, the tax bills increase."
