Is it worth 3 minutes of your time if you can help keep Wal-Mart from coming to the OV Marketplace? If you said, "yes," please
click here to send an email to Wal-Mart's CEO Lee Scott. Tell Lee that, while he's scaling back on new store expansion, Oro Valley would be a good place to start!

My comment to Wal-Mart:
Dear Mr. Scott---If you're seriously concerned about "cannibalization" and not coming into a community with a lot of opposition to Wal-Mart, please tell Vestar, the developer, you want to be a good citizen, and reconsider your entry into our community, especially since the developer will pocket almost half of our sales tax, up to $23.2 million.
Thank you for not overlooking Oro Valley. We need the tax dollars your store will generate. The old farm field you are moving into gave us dust and Valley Fever. Please do not allow a few elitist used to be's to taint your view of our beautiful, conservative, capitalist community. I keep hoping they will all move back to San Francisco.

Yes Farley, we need tax dollars. that is why it was such a ill conceived deal with Vestar to share, rebate, use whatever term floats your boat our sales tax revenue.
True capitalism does not support business by giving mnoney to private concerns.
Oh and by the way, I am an independent and extremly conservative with money. Maybe that is why I am so disugusted about giving away our sales tax money of potentially 23.2 million to a developer.
Somebody screwed up big time with this EDA!!!
Welcome to our blog. Farley. Rather than spending your time on personal attacks----(You should have paid attention to my comment directed to OV Objective Thinker), you should be more concerned with facts.
Valley Fever is caused by a fungi that is in the soil and becomes airborne when the soil is disturbed. Therefore, the "old farm field" you allude to would not be a problem----up until now, when the soil is being disturbed by Vestar to bring us a Wal-Mart.
Also, don't forget, we get 2% sales tax from all our retailers where "giveaways" were not handed out. Too bad Vestar will pocket almost half of our revenue from the likes of Wal-Mart and their other "unique" retailers.
PS--- Who's from San Francisco?

We received the following text message from "Teresa'--Re: Wal-Mart
Are we that lazy that we can not drive the 10-15 minutes to the
Wal-Mart on La Cholla??? Another La Encantada would suit the majority and benefit us as well! We also have Target! If Wal-Mart needs a spot, why not in the Catalina/Oracle area?? It would be much better suited there as theydo not have one!

Am I the only one who noticed that as soon as Don Cox disappeared, Farley Vaughn showed up? Coincidence?
Good observation. I just commented this morning to a couple of friends; Farley Vaughn seems to be the reincarnation of OV Objective Thinker.
As I said----as long as the comment maker can keep a civil tongue, all comments are welcome----whether they make sense or not.
