CREMATORIUM: AZ STAR report Feb 19

Douglas Harpold, the owner of the Crematorium has said he plans to move ahead regardless of what the neighbors think! Read about it here!

"The funeral home owner has vested property rights on this," said Councilman Al Kunisch."

  • Thanks, Al, for being so considerate of your constituents. Was this the same logic you exhibited with your "the heck with the voters" swing vote for the utility tax?

I see the OV seagull has squawked and left some droppings. After careful analysis, artmarth, I suggest some more fiber in your diet and maybe, just maybe, your droppings will have more substance.
At least Mr. Kunisch showed up for the vote. Some other Council members didn't.

Rather than delete the previous message, I'll allow the reader to recognize the "MO" of the writer. If is smells like a Cox, writes like a Cox, is arrogant like a Cox, you can be sure it's a Cox.
Only difference, in The Explorer, you're man enough to use you own name. Here, you need a pseudomyn, huh Don?

Personally I like the idea of some different views!
Too bad the ov objective thinker could not come up with a point other then bashing another person's views.

Thankful that the ov objective thinker is not a member of our town council, now that is worth sqawking about.

Property rights seem to be applied unfairly in our town. If you are a developer then you have many many property rights which are encouraged & enforced by the town with our money.
Homeowners should have property rights also.
Homeowners should have the right to a certain quality of living here.
Just because we own a home does not give us the right to do whatever we please with it, try it and see how fast you will learn about the limits of your property rights.
Owner of property slated for the creamatorium should not have the right to infringe on the rights of existing property owners.
In my mind a funeral home and a crematorium are different. So then because a lot is zoned for say a store, does that mean any kind of store, even if its objectionable to the area?
Also developers are always getting the advantage of the towns help with opinions paid by the taxpayers.

Unfortunately, I have been out of town for a couple of days and have not had an opportunity to respond to Art's 2/19/07 comments.

I have never been the least bit shy about signing my name to anything that I have penned. The process one must utilize to post on this BLOG asks for a "pseudomyn"
or a pseudonym whichever spelling you prefer. I choose the latter because it's accurate.

I wrote my comments to insure Mr. Segal would know exactly who wrote the comment. There was no attempt on my part to hide my identity.

I know Art pretty well. I have seen him operate in front of the Planning and Zoning Commission. I play softball with him (on an opposing team) and see him operate in that setting. He is by the way a pretty good softball player.
I have seen him operate in front of the Town Council and I of course read his comments posted by the Explorer News.

Having spent a little over five years of my life in the US Army and serving in a combat theater, I have a great deal of respect for Mr. Segal's right to say what is on his mind. However I will continue to challenge anything he says when it contains non-factual information. Unfortunately much of what he says, or posts, is not factual. It is emotion driven and as I said in a previous comment usually contains little substance.

His attack on Mr. Kunisch was uncalled for. I opposed the utility tax and strongly urged Mr. Kunisch to vote against it. Mr. Kunisch saw things otherwise. Does that translate to "to heck with the voters" as Art put it. I submit to you that Al was simply acting on what he thought was best for Oro Valley.

I have urged Mr. Segal on several occasions to use some of his energy in a positive way and say something positive about Oro Valley. Surely there has to be something that he likes here. I challenge him once again to channel some of his energy into a more positive vein.
