One of the things Mayor Loomis did was to present an annual "State of the Town" speech at a paid luncheon sponsored by the Northern Pima County Chamber of Commerce.
I didn't like him doing this because he should have been addressing his remarks to the citizens of Oro Valley and not to a select group.
If you were not there, you did not know what he said, unless it was reported by one of the papers.
Besides, we should not have to pay to hear his very important remarks.
Mayor Hiremath has chosen to to continue this tradition (article).
Please, Mr. Mayor, its our town. Make your remarks public. Post them on the town web site. Better yet: Make this address at one of our upcoming town meetings. How about you send them to us and we'll publish them.
You said that you would return the town to the people, Mr. Mayor, and this would be a good way of doing it.
