OVHS: It's A Birthday

It’s a birthday!!
Oro Valley turns 50 years old this month, and the Oro Valley Historical Society is ready to celebrate!

We'll be in Saturday's Parade
We will start with participating in a Town sponsored parade beginning at Ironwood Ridge High School on Naranja Drive at 9 a.m. on April 6. You’ll definitely be able to recognize our entry as we travel to the Oro Valley Public Library with many other Oro Valley celebrants!

We'll feature stores about Oro Valley's Journey
Also, from 9 a.m. until noon on April 6 and on April 13, the Historical Society will feature stories about the journey to make Oro Valley a Town at the Pusch House Museum at historic Steam Pump Ranch on Oracle Road. Shop at the Heirloom Farmers’ Market and then stroll to the Museum to discover the stories about the heroes who made Oro Valley a Town. Full disclosure – it wasn’t easy!

On April 11 at 2 p.m
Jim Williams, author of Oro Valley The First Fifty Years will moderate a panel discussion at Oro Valley Public Library with early Town employees who helped make Oro Valley the community it is today.

But wait – there’s more!
On April 13, the Historical Society will be a part of a huge Town celebration planned at James D. Kriegh Park on West Calle Concordia starting at noon, with a fireworks finale at 9:30 p.m. This free, family-friendly experience will include live entertainment, activities for kids, food trucks, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase. You have to be there! History loves company!

Join the Arizona Gives Campaign
And how could we let April go by without telling you that the Oro Valley Historical Society is participating in the Arizona Gives campaign for the first time this year? We could use your support! Donations can be made any time through April 15.  Click on “Find Organization” top right of front page and type in Oro Valley Historical Society. Your donation will be acknowledged by Arizona Gives and will appear as Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits. There will be a designation for Arizona tax credits on that receipt. The Society will also send an acknowledgement unless you choose to remain totally anonymous. We appreciate your donation!
