Be Sure You Get A Ballot For The Primary

Early Voters: Make sure you get a “partisan” ballot or you will miss out on the Oro Valley election
If you are on the permanent early voter list (PEAVL), and many of us are, you received a postcard last month. That card ask what ballot you wanted to receive for the August election. If you said you did not want a partisan ballot but preferred a generic "For Oro Valley Only" ballot, which was one of the choices, then you will not get a ballot. Thus, you will not vote in the primary on August 2.

We were told this in a conversation with the Pima County Recorder’s Office. Needless to say, we asked for one of the two partisan ballots.

Be sure that you tell the recorders office where to mail your ballot if you are an early voter and are away from your home
Also, if you are on the PEAVL and you are not at your residence, the ballot will not be forwarded to you. Thus, you must call the recorder’s office (or go online) to tell them the address to which you want the ballot sent.

It is crucial that you make sure that you get a primary ballot if you are on the PEAVL  because the mayoral election will be determined in this election. It is also likely that the council members will also be determined. Thus, there will be no general election for these seats in November.

You can reach the recorder’s office at 520-724-4350. Ballots are going out on July 7.
