Feedback: Overwhelming Majority Believe Hiremath Had Role In Nexdoor.com Posts

Tuesday, we posted: "Did Mayor Hiremath Use A Fake Name To Post On Social Media?" We presented facts regarding certain postings made on a social media website, Nextdoor.com.  We asked you whether, based on these facts, you believed that Mayor Hiremath played some role some role in creating these posts.

The vote is in. The overwhelming majority of respondents, 84.4%, believe that he did play some role in these postings.

We received an email from Mahra Solberg subsequent to that posting. The email states: “Satish Hiremath, my dad, did not engage in any writings that I, Mahra, had posted on NextDoor”.

If, indeed, this were the case, we were curious as to why she did not "step up" and post this information on next-door.com. So, we followed up, asking her 3 questions:
  1. Why did you not identify yourself as Mayor Hiremath’s daughter when you made your first post?
  2. Why did you not identify yourself as Mayor Hiremath’s daughter when it was asserted that Mayor Hiremath wrote the posts on Nextdoor?
  3. Why didn’t Mayor Hiremath identify you to be his daughter when he posted “I am not Mahra?”
Her response:  “There is no requirement from me or from NextDoor to have to further identify myself other than my real name."

Obviously, both she and the Mayor wanted to keep her identity hidden. Although there is no requirement from Nextdoor to reveal more than your name, we believe that full disclosur would have been the morally correct thing to do, rather than lying by omission as the Mayor did when he said only, "I am not Mahra.".

It is up to you to decide if you do or do not believe her statements.
