Bits and Pieces


Oro Valley-owned restaurants and catering lose $37,000 in July
The La Vista Restaurant, the Garden Café, banquet and catering activities and beverage cart operations are associated with the Oro Valley Community Center and Recreation Center. These operations lost approximately $37,000 for the month of July.

 "Total revenues were $34,002 and total expenses were $71,043 for a net loss of $37,041. While revenues exceeded budget by $1,380, or 4%, expenses were higher than budget due primarily to 4th of July holiday pay, increased overtime due to staff vacancies and cost of sales for food." Oro Valley housing sales steady
"In the Oro Valley area, August 2015 active inventory was 254, a 17% decrease from August 2014. There were 75 closings in August 2015, a 32% increase from August 2014. Year-to-date 2015 there were 556 closings, a 12% increase from year-to-date 2014. Months of Inventory was 3.4, down from 5.4 in August 2014. Median price of sold homes was $280,000 for the month of August 2015, up 8% from August 2014. The Oro Valley area had 76 new properties under contract in August 2015, up 23% from August 2014."

The median selling price is not the average selling price. A median selling price is that price above which and below which there are an equal number of sales.  The average selling price of Oro Valley homes is from $200.000- $225,000. Most listings are from $175,000-$500,000.

Hiremath to present "State of Town"
"Oro Valley Mayor Dr. Satish I. Hiremath will present his sixth annual State of the Town Address at a luncheon hosted by the Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 11:45 a.m. at the Hilton El Conquistador Golf and Tennis Resort in Oro Valley." (Source: Oro Valley Press Release)

The event is not open to the public. It is presented to those who pay up to $60 to attend. It is sponsored by the Greater Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Tomorrow: Oro Valley Community Emergency Response Team plans drill
"On Saturday, September 19, 2015, the Oro Valley Community Emergency Response Team (OVCERT) will be conducting an emergency preparedness drill from 8 a.m. – noon at Alive Church, 9662 North La Cholla Blvd., 85742. The purpose of this drill is to refresh and test OVCERT member’s skills in triage and light search and rescue in conjunction with National Preparedness Month.
