Oro Valley Police Association Endorsements Are Meaningless, Morally Wrong and Embarassing

---
You will note that any candidate for council who is not favored by this blog is immediately endorsed the the Oro Valley Police Officers Association and the Fraternal Order of Police.  That, my friends, is the sole criteria they use in deciding who to endorse.

There is no vetting.

There in no meeting with all of the candidates.

There is only: "If the Blog favors you, we're not interested."

That is why endorsements by the Oro Valley Police Officers Association and the Fraternal Order of Police are of no value to those of you who, like us, believe in and trust our valued Police Force.   They have simply not done their homework when it comes to endorsing candidates.  Their judgment in this instance can not be relied upon.

At least when this blog favors (not endorses) a candidate it is because that candidate has met with us. It is because we have "checked them out."  It is because they favor the people, and not the special interests.

The Oro Valley Police Officers Association and the Fraternal Order of Police have a conflict of interest when it comes to endorsing candidates anyway. This is because the Oro Valley Police Department reports to the Town Council.

Do you think that the Police Associations would endorse any candidate that would want to take a serious look at the Police Budget, which is 48% of the Oro Valley budget?

Do you think that their endorsed candidates, Solomon and Napier, would ever suggest that such a study be undertaken?

It is wrong that the Oro Valley Police Associations take a position in this election.  They are trusted organizations that have thrown their weight behind some candidates while ignoring others simply  because these individuals are preferred by the blog.

It is also morally wrong.  The are "influencing" those who may be their boss.

Actually, its embarrassing. It is as if the Police are pitting themselves against those of us who prefer other candidates.

The Police Associations in Oro Valley should have taken not position on any council candidates. They should have stayed out of it.  That would have been the right thing to do.

On September 11, 2011, thousands of New York City police and fire fighters poured into the abyss to save thousands of people. That day they became America's heroes.  As a result, every police and fire fighting force in our nation is now honored as "heroes".  The Oro Valley Police Associations should be ashamed that they are using this high honor of trust for such a self-serving, denigrating purpose.
