Only Bill Garner & Barry Gillaspie stood tall throughout the discussion at the council meeting as it concerned the saving of the Coyote Run Bus Service.
After more rhetoric than was necessary, with our wonderful Mayor Hiremath truly beating a dead horse, and refusing to do the right thing, the Oro Valley Council voted 6-1 to save the service that is so necessary for those among us that desperately need it---at least for another year.
Did the potential recall of Joe Hornat & Mary Snider play a role in this vote?
I'll leave that up to our readers to decide.
All we know, is that it would have been the wrong thing to do to terminate this service and basically allow the RTA to determine if and how it would operate.
Geez! Do you think there's a chance this council might even think of eliminating all but a couple of the police take vehicles?
Who knows. A potential recall might even perform more miracles.

Mary Snider Calls Recall Of Her & Joe Hornat "Irresponsible"
So, Mary Snider believes the PAC that initiated a recall of her and fellow Council Member Hornat is "irresponsible."
Her reason, as reported in The Explorer, is "because of the cost and the damage to the Oro Valley image a recall will cause."
Well--- Ms. Snider should have given a little more thought (did she give any thought, whatsoever?)what her voting record in her one year in office has done to the people of Oro Valley?
We have documented her abysmal record in a number of postings, but it's worth repeating once again. (By the way, her record is wonderful if you happen to be any one of a number of Special Interest Groups. It's only abysmal if you are one of the unfortunate citizens that has been so negatively impacted by this lady.)
Briefly, she:
1) Voted to appoint Steve Solomon, a developer to the vacant council seat, bypassing 18 other candidates that didn't meet HER prerequisite (they were only volunteer citizens)
2) Voted to approve a temporary budget that included a doubling of our Utility Tax WITHOUT any concern for the impact of those that can barely make "ends meet."
3) With total disregard to our elderly and disabled, she voted for the demise of the Coyote Run Bus Service, leaving hundreds of our fellow citizens scampering to find other transportation to doctors, shopping, therapy, etc.
4) Agreed with our Town Manager (who just resigned) that it's a great idea to give OV employees the day before Christmas & New Years off WITH pay. And let's not forget, that also includes their birthday. Great for the workers. Not so great for the people (taxpayers) who must pay for the thousands of dollars in lost work productivity.
5) I won't even go into detail, on the way she treats the cops. She thinks they are Gods that deserve raises, free cars and who knows how many other perks that WE pay for.
Now, Mary Snider says, we're being "irresponsible." Look in the mirror lady

Oro Valley Town Manager Resigns Effective June 30
As reported in The Explorer, Jerene Watson, who was promoted from Assistant Town Manager to Manager after the previous Council put the citizens in that position, has resigned effective June 30.
Perhaps THIS Council will do a search and come up with the best available candidate to fill the position.
The issue will be discussed at the Town Council meeting tonight. (June 1)
