Is A Fry's Gas Station Coming To Your Neighborhood?

---

Fry's is planning to build a gas station and restaurant on LaCanada, across from Canada Hills. The site is north of Lambert Land and near the Ace Hardware. This would put two gas stations in generally the same, moderate traffic density area. Affected residents are encouraged to attend a neighborhood meeting to be held on Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. in Town Council Chambers, Oro Valley Town Complex, 11000 N. La Canada Drive.

Wait a minute. Gas station and restaurant?
A Fry's restaurant? What is that?

Perhaps Fry's needs additional space for its outdoor merchandise displays...

Yes. Exactly. A place to put their outdoor grills!

This is one too many. We deal now already with the noise from the fire station and the fountains, and from Fry's vacuuming the lot overnight. We have the smell from Jerry Bob's. Now let's add more traffic to an already difficult situation across from Canada Hills Dr. Let's light up the sky with extended night hours. Let's add tankers to the mix. And a 3rd restaurant with the smoke and the smells, And is this what we need? Has anyone ever had to wait for a pump at the Diamond Shamrock? The Mayor and Council showed last week that they will listen to the objections of neighbors and weigh the economic necessity and viability of projects. Let's let them know what we neighbors think on Thursday night!

I live very close to this proposed addition to the already busy corner. I'm not at all pleased!

The major problem I see with the objections to the proposed development is the "permitted use' that would have to be considered. The wording in the El Conquistador PAD and our zoning code has likely already been addressed. This could well be a situation where Fry's has the legal right to build another gas station and restaurant. If the proposed restaurant includes a drive thru, the council has the power to deny the CUP (conditional use permit).

This may be the time to organize to insist on appropriate design criteria to mitigate the damage to nearby residential.

Conny.....Or maybe you can organize a recall if they vote against your solution?????

Nombe....Based on their rib sales, I would suggest a good BBQ rib joint.

LucilleSB....No I haven't. But I have stopped buying gas there because I cannot utilize my Fry's gas discount.
