The results are in for our survey:"How Much "Crap" Can Fry's Display Outside Their Oracle Road Store?"

• 15%: More crap than you can shake a stick at

• 5%: As much crap as they can find laying around their store

• 7%: Doesn't everyone buy their grill at Fry's

• 71%: All of the above

The correct answer was not given as a choice. It is: More merchandise than should safely be displayed in front of a major exit from any store. This answer was noted by one of our bloggers who noted that the Fry's display created an unsafe exit situation in case of an emergency. This would be true even if the display was perfectly within fire code requirements.

We would do a similar survey for the Lambert/LaCanada store pictured at left. However, we think that the survey result would be the same.

Though The Town of Oro Valley has tried help merchants improve their sales situations by relaxing our rules regarding outdoor displays, we find that at least one merchant lacks the creativity to take advantage of this opportunity. In the end, you know, the town can only do "so much". Really, its the job of the merchants to help themselves.
