Have you noticed the recent visibility of the unmarked police car stealthily patrolling Oracle and adjacent streets? Wish I had a picture. Its gray and long, sort of like a station wagon.
I've been informally told that its what the Motorcycle Cops use when its too cold for them to ride their bikes.
Anyhow, you will know it when you see it. Because, when it pulls someone over, it flashes like a Christmas tree.
I saw it the other day on the corner of Linda Vista or Concordia and Oracle rd. The Officer had pulled over some unfortunate senior citizen. I can't imagine what heinous violation she committed.
Be good for the cops to focus on real crime and stop wasting our resources trying to trap our residents.

Zeeman.... That car has been around for nearly a couple of years now and is a part of the local traffic enforcement effort.
Since we have had multiple traffic deaths this year as a result of careless driving, I don't mind our police department doing their job.
Since we are the safest city (of our size) in Arizona, I would think they are doing a pretty damn good job of fighting "real crime" also.
Don
PS: That's not the only unmarked car!! BEWARE
Oh. Goodness. There's more out there?

Yes, my friend. There is a Mustang (I think it's a Mustang)that you might want to look out for.:-)
Well. Best to drive safely, anyway.
Zee Man -
I totally understand your frustration - been there, done that.
But I know to think of it in context. And I am surprised that you don't. Traffic accidents rank in the top 10 causes of death year after year after year. Add to that all the material damage.
Now think about crime. It's a tiny fraction of the damage done by motor vehicle accidents. On top of that, most of the deaths and material damage from crime happen in poor urban areas - I don't quite think Oro Valley counts as that.
I think your tendency to trash the OV police force has led you astray here. Again, I think we all hate being pulled over. We all feel peeved when we see a police car watching traffic as we are 10 mph over the speed limit. Yet, it's ridiculous to suggest that our police is wasting resources ensuring traffic safety.
Moreover, your hatred of our police force is reflected in the conclusions from the incident you watched. I have seen plenty of senior citizens in our communities running red lights, switching lanes without signaling, and being generally unaware of what's going on around them.
Hi OVDad,
You conclude incorrectly.
I do not hate the police force.
I just think that they are a bit overbearing in Oro Valley.
