Here's a reference map of the Miller Ranch area:
The development in question is the land located left of the north-south La Canada roadway. The "neighbors" that have concern live on the other side of La Canada. Their development does not have direct roadway access to La Canada.
There exists, at present, a buffer between them and the proposed development and there is already "noise" from vehicles traveling on La Canada and on Tangerine Road.
The complaining letter that we reference in "It Seems Not All Residents Around Miller Ranch Proposed Development Are Happy" concerns the two story height of the structures and the possible increased congestion and noise.

I suppose that one must visit the homes of the concerned neighbors to understand about that which they are concerned.
It should even be determined whether they are actually "neighbors". If they live west of La Canada they most certainly do on own property that abuts Miller Ranch. In addition, they are far removed from La Canada given the natural barrier that exists between them and the roadway. They already get noise and congestion from the existing, very busy Tangerine Road.
So, "where's the beef"? It's in making sure that concerns regarding this commercial development are properly, fully vetted.
....
Good post, Zeeman.
As I previously posted, I visited three spots along Washbed Drive which is the N/S street just east of LaCanada. I was at the back (west) property line and I doubt that many will see the two story buildings. That buffer is pretty high and thick and will continue to grow.
Secondy, I believe the fact the NW corner of LaCanada/Tangerine was commercially zoned was readily available to them when they purchased their property.
They (local residents) have met with the Town staff on one occasion for two hours and they have met with the developer for two hours. I believe each meeting was recorded in some manner so the concerns were heard and noted.
I understand that based on previous concerns expressed by folks, the density of development of the property was reduced and the taller buildings were all relocated to the center of the development which is the lowest point.
There are times when not every concern can be mitigated to the complete satisfaction of all parties. And I understand that doesn't make it any easier to accept.
I can see my house from here!
Let me first start by saying Down Home delights is a nice place, but I'm not sure how the little breakfast place in Catalina is always packed and she is struggling. Hopefully the sign continues help her, and maybe she can do little marketing things like offer discounts to those who stay at the Holiday Inn Express. We citizens want our local businesses to succeed, and the idea that we don't is insane.
I really feel sorry for those citizens who really care for this town, and put forth the effort in volunteering and participating in town events and meetings. These volunteers really try to be part of the process and in most part have nothing but good intentions for this town. Unfortunately, their input has little if any influence on the way this council is going to vote. Last night the mayor was smooth but to me was poster person for patronizing, and could care less about input from the citizens.
Based on input from their "special interests" most council members decide their vote on any issue prior to the meetings. I'm not sure if most put the time and effort into reseaching topics and just go with the flow or go with their "heart".
The time to start the process recall Solomon is now. Watching him read his prepared text and his influence over certain council members makes this council very unbalanced. I fear for those residents of Catalina Shadows and Palasides when the Kai property comes before this council.
I posted this under the wrong topic as it should follow the sign thread
Fear....
I'll respond on the sign topic.
