Art To Council: Be Citizen Centric... Don't Raid The Contingency Fund

At last night's Council Meeting, Art spoke during the "Call To The Audience" segment of the meeting, reminding Council members that it is their job to represent the interest of the people of Oro Valley. Sounds "sort of obvious", doesn't it? But some members of Council seem to "dance to a different drummer".

Art also discussed the Town's Budget for 2009-2010. He noted a "problem" with one of the town's previous decisions and noted how improper it is to raid the town's contingency fund to pay for routine operating costs.

Golder Ranch Fire Station Burns

As reported in The Arizona Daily Star, The Golder Ranch Fire house in Saddlebrooke built in 1990 had a fire that caused $500,000 in damage.

What the Star did not have were any photos of the burnt-out fire station. Thanks to a concerned reader, we are going to provide you with photos.

Our first picture shows the damage done by the fire:

In our second photo, below, it appears that the GRFD firemen are not too concerned with their loss. How do we know? I guess the smiley happy faces tell the story.

Why, after all, should they be concerned? They're not going pay to fix the station. Between the presumed insurance coverage and the us, the taxpayers, this might be no more than a minor inconvenience... resulting in a brand new fire station.

Wish we all had it that good!
