Oro Valley Police Are Good----Compared To Jericho Arkansas Cops

There seems to be a lot of similarities between Oro Valley police and Jericho Arkansas cops----except we don't get shot here.

Read the Az Star story here.

This is by far the most disgusting post segal has ever made. To compare the police department in Oro Valley to these rogue wanna-be's is beyond insulting.

I would hope that more of you speak out on this bunch of CRAP!!!

What's not CRAP is the fact that many that drive on Tangerine rd or Oracle rd or La Canada as examples in Oro Valley can relate quite well to the tactics that were employed by the fool cops in Jericho Arkansas.

Quoting the AP story:

"Police often camped out in the department's two cruisers along the highway that runs through town, waiting for drivers who failed to slow down when they reached the 45-mph zone ringing Jericho. Residents say the ticketing got out of hand."

Sound familiar???

Art, you continue to distinguish yourself as a disgraceful human being.

As far as speeding goes the Oro Valley Police Department doesn't even bother folks unless they are doing something blatantly unsafe, and/or are exceeding the speed limit by more than 10MPH. Through June, 2009, according to the Police Report submitted to the Town Council, the OVPD had issued 3690 traffic citations for various offenses. They had also issued 3577warnings to folks. It would appear on the surface that this group of individuals is exceptionally fair in their dealing with the driving public.

It is unbelievable to me that even YOU would stoop so low as to post something like this. I sincerely hope that every officer in the Oro Valley Police Department sees this post. I intend to do everything I can to see to it that they do.

Good luck out there.

Cox--Once again you prove to our readers what a damn fool you are.By now,I don't believe there are any readers that think you have any credibility.

The OV police don't need you to show them this post. They are quite capable of doing two thing:
Reading the blog and handing out citations---as you are well aware.

Thinker,

A few months ago, I wrote extensively on this very issue right here on this blog. To my recollection, you never offered an opinion at that time. So I'll bring it up again only to show you that YES, THERE ARE SIMILARITIES between the OVPD and what I read in the Jericho, AK article.

I was on a road where the posted speed limit is 45 mph. I was going only 35 mph because I was slowing down prior to making a left hand turn. There was a 15 mph school zone sign in the middle of the road that I did not see as I approached it because it was placed in a dip in the road. However, by the time I reached it, I was down to 25 mph anyway, and continued slowing down to 7 mph to make the turn.

Next thing I know, I'm handed a $130.00 speeding ticket even though the officer stated that, "Where it was posted 45 mph, I clocked you at 35 mph so you were doing fine then." That should have told him that I am NOT a speeder, but nooooo, he continued to aim his radar gun at a vehicle that was driving 10 mph UNDER the speed limit. That's harassment in my book.

I took my case to court and even though I had photographs to prove that the sign was not visible and the judge agreed that the sign was not visible, he allowed the citation to stand.

Now don't you think I should have been given a warning rather than a $130.00 ticket, especially since the sign was not visible?

And did you know that many other motorists complained about that same sign? And did you know that even after I complained about it, that it took the town almost 2 years to rectify the situation? Meanwhile, the cop continued to sit at that intersection every day for another 2 years handing out tickets to unsuspecting motorists.

And I'm supposed to believe that this wasn't all done by design?

Stop posting on this thread and go to the top of the blog and comment on the horrible actions of the TWO so called police unions we have here in Oro Valley. We have covered the speeding ticket to death. There is a much more important topic above.

Nombe,

I also posted on the other thread about the "horrible actions" of the police union. The antics of the OVPD get better and better all the time!

I decided to bring up the speeding ticket issue again only because Thinker always sides with the OVPD, but I noticed that he never defended them when I wrote about my speeding ticket incident. He tends to become "mute" when he can't defend something.

He stated on THIS thread that OVPD doesn't "even bother folks unless they are doing something blatantly unsafe, and/or are exceeding the speed limit by more than 10MPH."

So I'm challenging his statement because I was doing neither.

No problem, I just think this latest outrage from the OV Police union(s)(?) is beyond the pale. This development forces me to consider a huge cut in police manpower and budget.

VC.

I will first correct my mis-statement. I should have stated 10 miles or more over the speed limit and usually they don't write unless you are in the 13+ range. By your own admission you fit that category. Case closed....as said the judge.

Aiming a speed laser at you is not harassment.....unless you are caught. :-)

Again I will state that comparing our PD to the antics in Jericho, is disgraceful.

Might Cox believe the unprofessional behavior as noted in the recent Explorer article, of Oro Valley's "finest" falls under the category of "disgraceful?"

If more of the behavior of some of the police comes out into the public domain, there will be no doubt, anyone with any sense of dignity, will say, "that's disgraceful."

Thinker,

You didn't answer this question:

Now don't you think I should have been given a warning rather than a $130.00 ticket, especially since the sign was not visible?

You said they don't even bother folks unless they are doing something blatantly unsafe. So what exactly was blatantly unsafe about my going 10 mph UNDER the speed limit?

What exactly was blatantly unsafe about my approaching an empty intersection at 25 mph?

You know what's really blatantly unsafe? Placing a 15 mph school zone sign in an area where it can't be seen by passing motorists.

You know what else is blatantly unsafe? Taking 2 years to rectify that unsafe situation.

Also, I never said that aiming a radar gun at me is harassment. I said that CONTINUING to aim a radar gun at a vehicle that is going 10 mph UNDER the speed limit is harassment.
