Oro Valley's Spokesperson "Wears A 2nd Hat"

See How They Run

An announcement came from political newcomer Bob Westerman, who rented out downtown's Fox Theatre to declare his plans to take on Democratic state Sen. Jorge Luis Garcia. Westerman, a senior engineer and project manager at Raytheon, seems like a bright enough guy, though his plans to run as a Republican in heavily Democratic District 27 seems a bit quixotic.

Westerman has tapped Mary Davis as a "communications director" for his campaign. Davis is now working as a spokesperson for the Town of Oro Valley. Things could certainly turn awkward if Oro Valley needs to lobby Garcia on any issues this session. Good thing that local governments never have business with the state!

Helen Dankwerth: Suggested "Awards" From Our Bloggers

We previously noted that SAHBA gave Council Member Dankwerth their elected official of the year award. We asked our bloggers what other "awards" they believe Dankwerth might be worthy of receiving. Herein are some of the more note worthy "awards."

She should get an "Oscar" for the Suffolk Hills candidate forum. Her acting was superb!! I actually thought she was telling the truth for a change...........

Hopefully any awards given to Ms. Dankwerth will be going to her new title: Ex-Council Member Dankwerth.

For those of us old enough to remember ventriloquist Edgar Bergen and his dummy, Charlie McCarthy, Dankwerth deserves the "Edgar Bergen award" for speaking out of both sides of her mouth!

One award Dankwerth could win hands down is hypocrite of the Year. Why? Because she is always saying how concerned she is for the citizens that precedes her vote benefiting the developers at the expense of the citizens.

Is there an award for most narcissistic elected official in Arizona? If so, Dankwerth would blow away the competition.

That woman thinks she is so great. She deserves to be sent out of office before she does anymore damage.

I guess we can't give her "liar of the year" award, so let's just give her most untrustworthy elected official of the year.
