Oro Valley Council To Elect A New Vice Mayor

At the Jan 16 (this Wed. evening,) the OV Council will vote and elect a new Vice Mayor for a term to run through Dec 2008.

Only two Council Members have impressed the voters enough to be elected for two terms.

One is Paula Abbott. The other is KC Carter.

Other than Al Kunisch, in his first year in office, all other members have served previously as Vice Mayor with the exception of our good friend----and a good friend to the people of Oro Valley, KC Carter.

We anxiously await the results of the Council's vote for the new Vice Mayor at the Wed meeting.

Oro Valley Neighbor Writes To Az Star -- Re: Steam Pump Ranch

STEAM PUMP RANCH A MONEY PIT
Re: the Jan 3 article, "Keeping gate open at old ranch."
The Steam Pump preservation project is a hole in the desert in which the Oro Valley Town Council is pouring our tax dollars. Most of the people who live in Oro Valley came from somewhere else. I cannot imagine that many people beyond the misguided Town Council have an overriding interest in a decomposing ranch where the caretaker has been forced to live in a "former outdoor barbecue...where a hole in the ceiling hints of long-sustained rain damage."
Steam Pump Ranch, funded at $4.5 million, is an example of the Town Council's financial boondoggling, which is dwarfed by the millions of tax dollars they want in yet another bond issue for a huge new park. I urge Oro Valley taxpayers and voters to carefully consider any future bond initiative in the next election cycle.
