Greetings and Salutations--
I have a bunch of Initiatives here from Carolyn Campbell of the Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection. This initiative is supported by a slew of conservation groups including the Nature Conservancy, the Sierra Club and Defenders of Animals. Some of you may have seen or even signed these petitions already because they've been around for awhile -- since April 9, it says.
Sorry, but I just couldn't bring myself to read the whole description and text until now. That material comes stapled to it. As you might have guessed, I'm looking for people to take one and have it signed. This is very important for Oro Valley. I am willing to drive to your house and deliver it to you if there is no other way. Better yet, you can call me (878-0256) and arrange pick it up here!
You all know what a petition looks like. This, like many others, has 15 spaces for sigs. It has space on the back for a notary to sign it when you're done with it. Only one person can circulate it and that person has until July 3rd to finish it, have it notarized, and hand it in. You may have more once you are finished with one.
The description on top of the signing sheet says that the petition seeks to permanently protect 580,000 acres in AZ. That is a lot of territory. It includes parcels of land all around the state. Part of it is what the Town of Oro Valley calls "Arroyo Grande." They envision vast expanses of housing units but so far, their visions of water supply and wildlife protection are indefinite. This initiative to help protect our water supply, our wildlife corridors and the wildlife themselves. It will be on the Nov. ballot if we get enough signatures.
Please help --
...and let me know soon...
