Ritz-Carlton Resort Coming----Not Here, But To Marana

The Az Star reports that a building permit has been issued for a new Ritz-Carlton resort. But, most Oro Valley citizens won't care inasmuch as the resort is coming to Dove Mountain in Marana, not to Oro Valley.

For those who may not recall, this was the resort that was coming to Honey Bee Canyon in Oro Valley back in the early '90's. To entice them, the Town Council put in a new $900,000 water system, and promised a"bed tax" rebate.

How to build whatever you want---LA Tmes.com

One of our readers sent us an article from the Sept 5 LA Times, (Latimes.com.) While the strategy the writer alludes to may not have been Wal-Mart's, we couldn't help but see Vestar, loud & clear.

Here's just a few excerpts:

"Delay announcing your development for as long as possible."

"Never lose an opportunity to outlast your opponents by outspending them."

"Ingratiate yourself with the local authorities."

"Lobby for tax cuts."

Take a look, and see if you agree with our assessment.
