OV MILITARY MOM ASKS FOR OUR HELP

We received this text msg from a "military mom," (who we don't know). Although it is not "within our customary postings," we don't believe any of our LOVE readers will mind that we saw fit to post it. The message speaks for itself. Obviously, any help would be greatly appreciated. You can visit their web site by clicking here.

Hi,

I realize this is not a commentary on OV but I'm finding that many local residents have loved ones now serving in the military, so I am hoping you would be so kind as to post an announcement on your blog.

Recently there was an article in the NW Explorer about a group of women whose sons have been deployed and they've banded together to form a chapter of Blue Star Mothers. I am now a member and as our first big project, we are soliciting goods to ship to the troops. These donated goods are going to "any soldier.com." not to our sons, and we're not targeting any particular branch of the service.

If any of your readers are interested in helping us out and supporting the troops in Afghanistan, Bosnia, Iraq or Kuwait, they can contact me for more information. I have a list of items that are needed and we're also accepting cash to cover the mailing expenses.

Blue Star Mothers are mothers who now have, or have had, children serving in the military. We are a non-profit (501[c]3) service organization supporting each other and our children while promoting patriotism.

Thanks,
Vicki Payne

Let Wal-Mart Board of Directors Hear From You

A neighbor sent LOVE an email alerting us to the fact that people around the country who share the views of a mulitude of Oro Valley citizens, have a means of expressing their feelings to Wal-Mart's management. An excerpt from the email follows:

You’ve got to take a look at this new petition to the Wal-Mart Board of Directors. Wal-Mart Watch uses comments from people like us to lay out a clear case for why Wal-Mart needs to become a more responsible company. The petition addresses issues like the environment, health care coverage, discrimination, and more.

The fourteen members of the Wal-Mart Board of Directors need to feel the heat from the American people when they get to their June 1st meeting in Arkansas. That means we need every name we can get from people all across the country to make our voices heard.

Will you add your name too?
