Tightening The Belt

The citizens group that advises Town Council on Town Finances had come up with some innovate ways to keep Oro Valley in the black ("Oro Valley Citizens Suggest Changes To Council"). They're recommendations prevent the general fund from going into debt.

The group recommended changes like having the county run the Library and not building the Naranja Park Site. Like it or not, now is the time for innovative thinking when it comes to town finances. Oro Valley needs to tighten the belt.

The citizens committee will be ignorned. There is a long history that points to this attitude. Helen Dankwerth, a one time Out-of-the-box thinker, is the worst offender. She has been bought.

With the exception of Carter & Abbot, this is a tax & spend council.

If past experience is any indicator, the citizens group which advises O.V. on budgetary matters is blowing smoke.

The council will ignore their recommendations. Period. Dankwerth, especially.

These people, K. C. & Abbot excepted, are a tax & spend bunch.

Welcome to our blog, "terrytunes." Sometimes it's good to repeat yourself; for those who didn't hear you the first time.

In my humble opinion, most are not paying attention yet! They will pay attention when its too late. When we get the property tax on top of other increases they will wake up & will say "how did this happen"
Its unreal how the town is continuing to spend money we don't have.
Instead of increasing the budget, the town management should be doing a spending freeze and asking each department head to cut spending by say 10% instead of asking for increases.
If a choice has to be made between town officials and employees taking a salary decrease or cutting spending, you will see some cuts in the budget along the lines of expenditures.
Town has gone collectively insane.
