Look What's Going On In Kingman!

In our April 29 posting, "Look Who We Found!!!!"---we wrote about Jeff Weir, who left Oro Valley as Economic Development Administrator, for a comparable position in Kingman.

Well----guess what happened? To make a long story short, The Kingman Mayor & Town Council voted on Monday to eliminate the Economic Development Director position from next year's budget.

Mayor Les Byram said that "if we're going to start a reduction in force," Weir's position "is where we ought to start. But that's just my opinion."

Might it not be time for Oro Valley to take a look at what may be considered, "dead wood," and start their own cutbacks----instead of increasing payroll, and looking at new facilities?

Hmm, seems like the brass up in Kingman Arizona look out for their town and citizens.
Is Jeff Weir the same guy who brokered the EDA with Vestar.
Did our town council at the time receive any legal opinion or guidance before they signed that contract. If so, I am sure a lot of these exemptions, etc were mentioned by a lawyer. Hard for me to believe that any lawyer would encourage an elected official to sign such a document that is clearly not intended to benefit our town, but rather a developer What lawyer did they use? Did they just ignore the legal advice or did they just listen to some other town employee? Did those council members who endorsed this EDA and went all out in public telling us to vote yes on this horrible deal
read the document. We deserve answers, its our money .

.
Supposedly it contains a lot of exemptions for Vestar, one being that costly sewer and water hook up impact fees.
We need to be asking someody in charge down at town hall, to make public all the goodies received by Vestar.
In my opinion our town should very seriously get some real legal advice about looking for a way or loop hole to break that contract, in my fuzzy mind better to spend a million to get out of that very "interesing" contract then give away the whole bank account to some developer, who is not doing what they promised.

Yes. Something is very fishy. How could Hozzoner and Town Council be so reckless as to not protect us from Vestar's shenanigans? Were they duped? Just not smart enough to ask the riqht questions? Is there something else going on? Very fishy indeed.
