PRESCOTT---"Wal-Mart Is Coming To Town!"

In case you missed it in the Business section of the April 18 issue of The AZ Star,Wal-Mart "will be coming to town."
Interesting that they paid even more than their "wonderful" Naranja Park contribution to Oro Valley in order to convince the Prescott voters what a great deal they're getting. Here's the story.
*************************************************************************************
Wal-Mart spent $275,000 on Yavapai-store election
Wal-Mart spent nearly $276,000 to persuade voters not to block a planned store in Prescott Valley during a March election, reports show.
Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc. provided the bulk of the contributions — $275,658 — while the Prescott-based developer of the store site gave $25,000. Protect Prescott Valley, which opposed the store, collected $1,500 from the United Food and Commercial Workers union.
Prescott Valley voters upheld a rezoning decision by the Town Council that allowed construction of a Wal-Mart Supercenter store by a vote of 5,598 to 2,893. Wal-Mart said it expects the store to be open by fall 2008.
