DEMOCRACY IN ORO VALLEY?

Our good friend, "Uncle Phil," has just written a piece about the recently passed Utility Tax in The Oro Valley Watchdog. He writes; "If they (OV Council) believe in Democracy, then why do they try to slip this (Utility Tax) by us?"

If any of you have read EMPEROR'S CHILDREN, you may recall a quote from the character Murray Thwaite on page 48. I thought it was worth noting.

"If there's any purpose to a democracy, it's to ensure that the voice of the people is heard, and that the will of the people is abided by. That's not idealism, that's a fact. And a responsibility."
