Town Manager Suggests Interview Process For New Planning Director

The Explorer reports that David Andrews, Oro Valley Town Manager is suggesting an interview process to find the best candidate to fill the now vacant position of Planning Director.

At the moment, Assistant Planning Director Paul Popelka is working as the interim department head since Sarah More's departure.

Whether Paul, or another planner gets promoted, or whether the town finds a better candidate outside the town is one issue. We believe the "more" important issue is to get a candidate that will look out for the best interests of the residents----not just the development community.

That means being a little more judicious in giving approvals for those requests that do not meet our codes. In the recent past, "More" was less!

  1. I thought those of you who posted under the "All A Twitter" stream would get a kick out of this. Some of us were commenting on how some of this technology is ruining our society.

I heard a funny parody song about this on the radio the other day. I couldn't write down the words at the time since I was driving...no wait...that shouldn't have stopped me. Anyway,I looked up the words on the Internet. Nombe will appreciate this.

Sung to the tune of “Riders on the Storm”

    Drivers on the phone
    Drivers on the phone
I’d like to pick a bone
    With drivers on the phone

If you’d just hang up and drive
    We might get home alive

    Menace on the road

There’s a loser on the phone
His mouth is running like a drone
Pick milk up on the way
    Get Timmy to his play
    My safety could depend
    On gabbing with your friends
    Driving on the phone

This girl is talking to her man
    They’re making dinner plans
    She ran into a van
    And hit a homeless man

If you’d just hang up and drive
    We might get home alive

    Morons on the road
